1. Background:
We have been working intensively on the organization of the Jade Race for several weeks now. One of the central tasks was the question of which association to register the event with and in what form. In the first draft, we decided to register the event with the Dutch KNAF. In retrospect, however, it turned out that this entailed many bureaucratic hurdles, which also involved the DMSB.
2. Why KNAF?
KNAF was ultimately chosen due to its advantageous fee structure and the fact that KNAF does not require membership of an association. Here, a company can organize the event – an advantage over other associations where an association would be necessary.
What does this mean for German drivers? For German riders this means that they need a B-license according to the DMSB license regulations at the Jade Race (to ride international races). A C license or race card is only valid if the event has been approved by the DMSB.
3. What would that have meant for you drivers?
- Higher costs: A B license would have to be applied for, which would entail additional costs.
- Double insurance costs: Both drivers (insurance through the racing license) and organizers (organizer insurance) would have to take out insurance, which increases the overall costs.
- Question of profitability: For only 1-2 races per year, a B license might not be worthwhile.
4. Change of decision:
In view of the financial and bureaucratic hurdles, we have decided not to organize the event through the KNAF and not to invite tenders from an association. The Jade Race will be organized as a free
event, which is based on the DMSB regulations, but without the need for an association announcement.
5. International experience & outlook:
In Scandinavia, the Nitroz association has reorganized itself due to similar challenges. We have followed this development and considered whether it would not also make sense for us to set up our own drag racing association that promotes the sport and does not restrict it.
The Scandinavians have shown us that it is possible for clubs to decide for themselves whether to hold their series at any event in Germany – without any association. In cooperation with German
clubs such as SOET-Bikes, Super Comp Bike Dragracing Germany e.V. and the Drag Race Union, which also hold their series at the Jade Race without an association, we have made the decision to dispense with an association announcement.
Important information for you as a driver:
- No racing license required: You do not need a license for the Jade Race.
- No additional costs: There are no extra fees for insurance or licenses, everything is included in the organizer’s insurance.
- Uncomplicated participation: Participation remains accessible to all drivers and without additional bureaucratic hurdles.
- Safety remains our top priority: As in previous years, we attach great importance to safety and the fair staging of the event.
- Open event: The Jade Race remains a free event without any association ties, so you can still participate without any problems.
